Fiona Powell
Fiona Powell is an Edinburgh based painter and photographer. |
I attend an Art Group every week at RNIB as I am visually impaired and also hard of hearing. A long time ago I went to Art College in Dundee where I gained my Diploma of Art in drawing and painting.
I try to work at home but find going to the class at RNIB encourages me to persevere. I am also one of the 'Revealed' photography group and hope to do more in this field but painting is my true love.
At college we painted with oils which I do enjoy but I find using acrylics now is more easy to manage and an exciting medium to play around with. I like to experiment and have tried using oil pastels with the acrylics to find out if that might help me 'see' my work better.
Exhibitions that I have taken part in:
- 'Christmas Show 2009' at the Henderson Gallery, Edinburgh
- 'Let the People Speak' at Northern Edinburgh Art Centre August 2009
- '8th Helen Keller International Award 2009, Glasgow
I have taken part in several exhibitions with the RNIB Art Group and also with 'Revealed'.
